2nd Self-employment claims AND August Furlough Claims circular email 16th August 2020

Self-employment claims (does NOT include Directors of one/two person companies)

The second claim can be made on Monday 17th August. The qualifying criteria for the claim remain the same which means we are unable to submit on your behalf however please be aware you have to show your business has been adversely affected after 14th July 2020. This typically means the business has experienced lower income and / or higher costs because of coronavirus (COVID-19) since 14th July. There is no minimum threshold over which a business's income, costs or activity need to have changed by, but you must keep appropriate records as evidence of how the business has been adversely affected. It is noticeable that significant legislation has been introduced enabling HMRC to reclaim and apply penalties to any incorrect claims.

This second taxable grant is worth 70% of average monthly trading profits, a reduction from the 80% available under the first grant and capped at a maximum of £6,570.

August Furlough Claims

This is for Employers (including Directors of one/two person companies) using Furlough

From 1st August employers are unable to claim the employer NIC and employer pension contribution element of the payroll cost.

On Monday 17th August we will start processing Furlough claims for monthly paid employees in respect of August 2020, so it is very important you contact to confirm either:
Our furlough claim for August is the same as it was for July (Furlough claim can be submitted now) OR
a. We have no Furlough claim for August OR
b. The following apply:

Hours Normally worked
Hours Actually worked

To avoid submitting flexible furlough claims incorrectly it is very important that we have accurate information so any flexible working information should not be provided until hours actually worked are known.

Where we process payroll for employees we will identify the August claim alongside the normal pay run. We are allowed to submit the Furlough claims weekly or fortnightly for staff paid in that way so will attend to when processing the payroll.

Please only reply to this address
