Celebrating 30 Years in Business
On the 18th November 1981 a 28 year old Chartered Accountant (and Chartered Tax Advisor), Ian Stewart, set up in practice as a Tax Consultant working from home . Initially providing tax advice to professional firms the general accountancy practice developed and within a short period of time moved to rented premises in Shrewsbury Town Centre. A few years later the firm moved to larger premises in Claremont Bank before settling in the current office on Shrewsbury Business Park in November 2003.
Steeped in the technicalities of tax legislation Ian developed the firm by servicing existing clients based on reputation and personal recommendation. A few examples of long standing relationships spring to mind;
- The very first general practice client remains a very active one to this day .
- One of the very first clients Ian assisted in the start up of his company through various times of success and failure before disposing of the business for an 8 figure sum also remains to this day.
- Another of the very first clients not only remains so, their son is now a part of the team at Stewart Associates .
Stewart Associates (Shrewsbury) Ltd now comprises eleven people, large enough to provide all the requisite and complementary skills while maintaining a very personal and individual level of service. The firm caters for a wide range of clients large and small, from start ups to disposal or retirement, local and national. The name of the firm was chosen to reflect the team ethos and the fact all members work in association to service the individual needs of Clients.
